Echoes Of The Hand

Sculpture brings together Gaurab Das’s expansive artistic practice, where the human body, animal presence, and natural form converge through gesture and material. Spanning works across bronze, wood, and stone, this body of work traces Das’s sustained engagement with form as a living continuum—shaped by memory, craft traditions, and an intuitive dialogue between hand and material.

At the core of Das’s practice is the figure, not as a fixed or literal body, but as a fluid site of becoming. Human and animal forms, buffalo, mother and child, abstracted portraits, emerge and dissolve into organic curves, suggesting states of connection rather than separation. Limbs stretch, merge, and soften; bodies lean into one another, echoing rhythms of care, instinct, and coexistence. These forms resist stillness, carrying within them a sense of movement, breath, and quiet intimacy.

Taken together, the works reveal Gaurab Das’s ongoing exploration of sculpture as a meditative and tactile process, each piece bearing the imprint of the hand and the slow accumulation of gesture. This publication reflects a practice rooted in continuity: between past and present, human and nature, solidity and flow.

A selection of works from this body was showcased by Black Cube Gallery in 2026, inviting viewers to encounter sculpture as a living archive of presence and touch.
